Whether you’re a city dweller or nature lover, a sea view is always welcome. It’s a serene respite from the hustle and bustle of our concrete jungle, and makes our land-locked city feel a little less claustrophobic. It isn’t all about the scenery, though. Coastal homes enjoy more breeze, which our humid, searing island can certainly use. Every evening, you can also look forward to leisurely strolls by the waterfront. There’s nothing quite like watching the sunset to slow you down.
There’s only one problem: sea view properties aren't a dime a dozen and you have to pay a premium for them. Unless your pockets run deep, a high-rise apartment in Marina Bay or a condominium in Sentosa Cove may not be in the cards. Sure, there are alternatives like the new HDB estates in Northshore, but are you willing to compromise on accessibility for a picturesque vista?
All hope is not lost yet. Condominium projects that overlook the sea are in the works, and here are a few that will bring you closer to nature while ensuring that you remain suitably close to the city.
1. Amber Sea
Source Sitting between the Joo Chiat and Katong precinct is Amber Sea, a freehold project whose TOP date has yet to be announced. It’s a relatively small development, housing just 132 units including duplex units that emulate beachside villas and a one-of-a-kind penthouses. Not only is there no lack of shopping malls and hawker delights nearby; you can walk to East Coast Park and the CBD is a mere 10-minute drive away.
On top of the regular function rooms, Amber Sea has a sky dining pavilion on its roof terrace where you can host grillouts with a panoramic sea view to boot. But if you’re fortunate enough to snag a 4-bedroom unit, you can wake up to the same view, enjoy a cup of joe, or go about your morning workout on the spacious balcony. And if you would rather immerse in the condo’s landscaped greenery, you would be delighted to know the ground duplex units come with private swimming pools.
2. Amber Park
Not far away from Amber Sea is Amber Park, which was launched some two years ago and expected to TOP in 2024. The imposing development boasts all of 592 units ranging from 1-bedroom apartments to 6-bedroom penthouses, though only a handful of 4 and 5-bedroom units remain available. These also come with what they call “premier residential services” that will help you take care of the miscellaneous matters of everyday life - from laundry to housekeeping.
It’s not hard to see why Amber Park is so popular, and one cannot talk about its three 22-storey residential towers without mentioning the impressive rooftop which connects them - The Stratosphere. This iconic feature epitomises seaside living with a yoga deck and gymnasium that overlooks the ocean as well as a 600-metre jogging track that will give the stadium track a run for its money. If that wouldn’t make the most sedentary of residents exercise, nothing will. Ironically, you might not even frequent East Coast Park that much.
3. Meyer Mansion
Also expected to TOP in 2024, Meyer Mansion is yet another freehold development that houses 200 units across a single tower of 25 storeys. Its 1-bedroom to premium 4-bedroom units that come in versatile sizes and layouts for young couples and large families alike. In fact, some of them can even accommodate a super king size beds
Inspired by the Meyer Road bungalows that were once parted from the shoreline with lawns and gardens, nearly 80% of Meyer Mansion is dedicated to landscaping and amenities. Each apartment has been carefully designed to be generous in both natural light and living space. The old world charm of its tropical architecture is given a minimalist and luxurious update, making it a restful retreat where convenience and privacy coexists.
4. Coastline Residences
The recently TOP-ed Coastline Residences is the most compact development of the lot. But even with just 144 units across 21 storeys, the freehold development punches above its weight with unobstructed views of both lush greenery and calm waters. Being perched on the balcony is an experience in itself, but wait till you see its rooftop infinity pool. This is in addition to a series of interconnected swimming pools concealed within the building’s wavy silhouettes.
Indoors, the apartments are designed to let residents reap the benefits of seaside living - fresh air and natural sunlight. Like the rest of the building, simplicity and sophistication sit at the centre interior design. Flexi or utility rooms can be easily transformed into storage or study spaces, while master bedrooms are large enough to fit king-sized beds comfortably.
